Bierbörse Festival

A beer stock exchange and tasting alley will be set up at Main Street Square’s 11th annual Bierbörse, a German beer, and cultural celebration, on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 1 to 5 p.m., presented by A&B Business Solutions, Coors Light, and Vast Broadband. The Designated Driver booth is sponsored by Coca-Cola.

Try a selection of brews down Tasting Alley, participate in a beer stock exchange at the Coors Light Beverage Garden, taste authentic German food from Enigma, dance to the musical stylings of the Polkanauts, test your strength and wit with 3 of your best mates in the Beer Olympics or enjoy other solo yard games such as stein-holding, keg bowling and more. From 1 to 3 p.m. enjoy a tasting and brewing demonstration at the Ale Riders Home Brew Club booth.

At 2 p.m. the Beer Olympics will begin. Groups of four will compete in five mini-challenges: keg bowling, cornhole, stein holding, wiener toss, and life-sized beer pong for a chance to win Das Golden Boot. The first team out will win Das Golden Kolben (also known as The Golden Plunger).

“Bierbörse was the first event held at Main Street Square 11 years ago and we are glad to keep the tradition alive after having to cancel it last year.” Said Domico Rodriguez, President & CEO of Main Street Square. “Bierbörse is the perfect way to kick off the fall season, so we encourage people to come down and enjoy Main Street Square and Downtown Rapid City.”

In the beer stock exchange, the price of beer will vary from $2 to $8, and price is dependent on demand. For example, if the Dakota Point’s Nephobiber Hazy IPA brew is very popular, the price will rise. If no one is drinking Coors Light, the price will plummet and possibly crash. When a beer’s value is low, it will cost a minimum of $2. If it is high in demand, it may cost up to $8.

There will be two fenced-in areas, one for tasting and one for the Beer Stock Exchange. The event is 21+, Only those with a valid ID may consume alcohol. Main Street Square promotes drinking responsibly.

The tasting passes gain you entry to try more than 60 beers in two microbrew tents, open from 1 to 5 p.m. Passes are $50 in advance and $55 at the event and are required to enter the microbrew tents. Pre-sale passes are available for purchase until noon on Friday, Oct. 8, online at MainStreetSquare.org, by calling 605-716-7979 or at the Main Street Square office at 512 Main St., Ste. 980.
