Full Moon Hike
Come see the nature under the full moon with a Full Moon Hike lead by a Custer State Park Naturalist.
On March 10, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. the Tatanka Barn in the game Lodge Campground in Custer State Park will be the meeting place for the Naturalist led Full Moon Hike. The hike will be led by a Custer State Park Naturalist and will meet at the Custer State Park Visitor Center. The hike will initially follow the Creekside Trail which is easy and paved, it will then follow and old railroad bed back to the campground. This portion of the hike will be approximately 45 minutes long and cover approximately a 1/2 mile. Participants are strongly advised to dress for the weather conditions. Those who choose to may continue with the Naturalist on an unpaved trail for another approximate 1/2 mile.
Leashed dogs that follow good etiquette are welcome on the Full Moon Hike. Always keep dogs on leash, and the dog at your side so the leash does not wrap around the legs of fellow participants. Do not allow you dog to jump on fellow participants, bark continuously or approach other dogs without their owner’s permission.
There is no fee to participate in the hikes or check out snowshoes. However, a park entrance license is required to enter Custer State Park, an entrance license may be purchased at the Custer State Park Office from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. during the week or at the Visitor Center from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In observance of the holidays the Visitor Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
