Full Moon Hike
Hiking at night is a completely different adventure than hiking the same trail by day!
Join us here at Custer State Park at 8:30 PM for our May full moon hike. We will be meeting at the Peter Norbeck Outdoor Education Center and taking a hike along the Creekside Trail, then on an old railroad bed for a bit. This trail is rated easy and should be about a 2-mile round trip. Please note the group will be leaving promptly at 8:30 so you might want to plan on arriving a bit early just to make sure you have time to use the restroom and gather your hiking items.
Be sure to prepare for the program with good walking shoes, dressed for the weather, and a flashlight. This moon is known as the flower moon, and it will be a super moon as well! May’s Flower Moon name should be no surprise, flowers spring forth across North America in abundance this month! Make sure to wear good footwear and bring your own flashlight to explore the park at night.
There is no fee to participate in the hikes. However, a park entrance license is required to enter Custer State Park, an entrance license may be purchased at the Custer State Park Office from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. during the week or at the Visitor Center from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call us at the park office at 605.255.4515,
